Compared to (---------EDITED---------), Mitchell Bro's 4x4 is excellent. I had a written quote emailed to me within 1 hour. Kept informed about booking the car in to have the snorkel fitted. After I got the vehicle back I looked over it and could not find one fingerprint, drilling shaving or mark on the car. It was left in excellent condition which is a big thing to me. The staff are very friendly and kept me informed of the jobs progress.

I think on the NPS, I'd probably be between 8 and 9. Almost a vocal advocate. I wanted it to be an awesome experience so much, and it was pretty good... just a few niggly things that brought it down.
1: Rang up and got a price on a demo lightbar as a special, for $900. Didnt do anything about it, but was really quite interested. Couple of days passed, and got a call to say it was a special of the day, back for the price I already had been quoted... $900. So nothing new.
2: Got quoted an extra price of $60 for the wiring loom. Rigid Industry lightbars come with the wiring harness and switch as part of the package anyway, so the 'special price' seemed less valuable straight away. Expectation was the price would be for the complete kit... Rigid advertise it this way.
3: Got to the store to buy the Lightbar, and it's only a small thing... but the wiring loom was now $65. I'd driven 45mins to get to the shop, and lost the will to live a little bit by then, so couldn't be bothered saying anything. Again, I know it's only $5, but when you're talking Customer Experience, it's these little things that all add up.
4: I felt sorry for Ben. He was trying his best to help me, but the wiring loom I got wasn't even a Rigid one. It's from another company, and after a lot of fluffing around trying to find the right one, he's come up with something different. Feel like he was sincerely trying his best, but from my perspective I had a car full of screaming kids waiting outside....
5: Price for install of the bar, way too high. Not even a discussion. Far too high.
6: Didn't get an invoice or anything from my purchase. Was promised this at the time, but there was a computer broken or something. Was told the invoice would be emailed to me, and provided my details. Still have had nothing emailed to me, so dont really have a record of my purchase besides a stub from an EFTPOS machine.

Again, feedback is a gift, as they say. Certainly not trying to rag on you, but you did ask for feedback and its a credit to you that you did. Doing so, so soon after purchase is a great tactic.
I certainly liked the way you followed up my original enquiry... although some time had passed, you did still call back. Many other shops fail to do so, and with so many shops/internet around, that is a disaster. They certainly lose revenue that way.

Having previously owned a year 2001 Y-61 patrol by comparison the performance of my new, year old, Y-61 (pre-chip and exhaust upgrade) was at best under-performing. I spoke to Ben and Aaron who recommended I have the power upgrade installed. This entailed a 3" SS exhaust and an ECU chip remap. I also had an iDrive controller fitted simultaneously with the chip and exhaust. The vehicle was off the road effectively for 2 days, but it was well worth the wait and inconvenience.
When I collected my Patrol and saw the dyno curves I was surprised, peak torque had increased from 360 to 596Nm (up 64%) and peak power increased from 110 to 170kW (up 55%). I drove it home with the iDrive in Auto mode and couldn't help chirping the tyres when I took off at each set of lights, I could very quickly accelerate up to the speed limit... Overtaking was a breeze and I can now easily accelerate up the west side of Roseville bridge - previously it was all I could do the keep the Patrol up at the speed limit.
My fuel economy however was down both in city (20%) and freeway (5-10%) driving when the iDrive is in automatic mode.
I am currently driving with the iDrive in Economy Mode Level 9 and will give an update once I have emptied a couple of tanks of fuel.
I simple terms I am blown away by the improved performance and the exhaust note is sweet.

A: Yes. Aaron has been great, explaining everything. It's great that he's been able to prioritise what should be done immediately and what can wait till the next service.
It honestly is one of the great things to have someone explain something they are passionate about to you, without making you feel like a douche. My knowledge of cars is very very minimal, I know it should have 4 wheels.

"The G Turbo-Plug and play Power module". "Are you excited" was a term the Team used when I'd come into the workshop. Honestly I didn't understand the question until ... My truck is a two door V8 Landcruiser manual. Driving it after the moderforcations instantly my adrenalin surged sitting inside the cab with what felt like this angry animal, beast, was under the bonnet trying to get free. Controlling the peddle is a must the truck just wants to keep accelerating which brings me back to that term "are you excited " I'm blown away. Wayne P.

I wouldn't change your enthusiastic approach to clients and there's no particular service improvement I would expect. Being my first time to use the company, I was a little overwhelmed at first and surprised by the necessary work on the car. However, having got over my sticker shock, I have to say the car is running way better than it has in a long time, so the financial pain is fast receding.

The guys have always been fantastic and have done a great deal of repair work on my previous vehicles so when I bought my brand new Jeep 3 months ago there was no one else I would have taken it to for it's first service. The guys take the time to inspect the entire vehicle, rather than just tick off the ''required'' items at each service level. I know I'll never get stung with issues gone undetected as happens often with dealer servicing and my baby will always be well maintained. The team really care about ensuring I understand what has been/needs to be done and I'm always very confident nothing has been missed.

I went to Mitchell brothers to get my Colorado set up for a trip to cape york, I felt like they took the time to get to know what I was after, gave good advise and plenty of options on what products and services they could help me with and also didn't try and sell me stuff I didn't need. So far I have had a bull bar, winch and side steps fitted and shortly will have the team fit new suspension, snorkel and under body protection. Would recommend them to any one.

My Experience with Mitchell Bros 4x4

As a novice 4 x 4 enthusiast, who has a very strong desire to travel the length and breadth of Australia in the coming years, I set about setting up my Touring vehicle.

To achieve this I was searching for a business that would offer me:

  • Practical guidance,
  • Unbiased views,
  • Deliver a quality and timely service consistently,
  • and be competitively priced

 Since March 2009, I have had a number of modifications done to my touring vehicle, which I bought second hand: a 2005 Nissan Patrol 3.0 ST Manual.

In addition to a range of modifications from Front Lockers to a Long Range fuel tank fitted, I have now had a 45000 km service undertaken, and based on all my collective experiences over the past year or so, I will be strongly recommending Mitchell Bros 4 x 4. They have met my objectives repeatedly.

Most recently Mitchell Bros were most innovative in creating and completing an upgraded lighting arrangement at the rear of the truck. There will be pictures on their web site of this configuration and I am most pleased with the outcome.

What do you think about us? Mitchell Brothers were recommended by another JK Wrangler owner who had endured a poor costly experience with another shop. When I recently needed a service they did there very best to fit me in as soon as possible. On arrival I noticed 2 Jeeps on display at premises. They diagnosed my mechanical problem within minutes, were so professional in there correspondence with emailed quotations & personalised phone calls throughout the day. I would highly recommend there services to any Wrangler owner, they seriously know there stuff. I know my Truck is in safe hands with these guys & I look forward to taking it back to them for future services & modifications.
